Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star Tatyana Ali has received praise from her followers after sharing an empowering breastfeeding photo featuring her 1-year old. The 41-year old mother, who rose to fame thanks to her role a Ashley Banks on the hit sitcom, starring opposite Will Smith, explained in the caption that she’s not one to shy away from breastfeeding her child, Alejandro, when he’s hungry.

In the image, Tatyana can be seen lying in bed beside her toddler, whose eyes are closed as he feeds. The actress said she made the post in order to celebrate Black Breastfeeding Day. “There are incredible racial disparities in breastfeeding and those disparities grow even greater when duration is considered,” she wrote in the caption. “I breastfed my oldest for two whole years. I plan to do the same for the youngest.” She encouraged mothers to continue breastfeeding for as long as they want and that they shouldn’t let anyone else’s opinion sway there’s. “Don’t let anyone, family, friend, or professional push you into bottles,” she added.
