Taylor Swift has been tight-lipped about her personal life for years, but fans are convinced the singer made a huge revelation in one of the songs off her new album Midnight.

“Bigger Than Sky” is a bonus track on the 3am edition of the new album, and the song describes processing a loss. It’s the second verse that has fans convinced it’s a reference to miscarriage since it describes saying goodbye to someone they’ve never met before. The lyrics ponder what “could’ve been” and “would’ve been” in the future had they met the person the song describes.

As Page Six notes, not only is the Internet convinced that the song is about pregnancy loss but there’s now speculation that Taylor may have experienced a miscarriage, inspiring the song.

Taylor has been dating British actor Joe Alwyn since 2016. They’re rumored to have first met at the MET Gala. Engagement and pregnancy rumors have been following the couple for years, though they’ve rarely discussed their relationship. But sources say the couple is serious.

In August 2020, a source told Us Weekly that the couple was having serious “discussions” about having children. The insider noted that Taylor was “excited” by the idea of being a mom and looking forward to it in the future.

Another source told the publication that Joe and Taylor have discussed marriage and are “in love,” though they haven’t set a deadline for when they want to tie the knot.

Despite recent reports, Taylor has expressed indecision over whether she’ll have children. When pressed on the topic, she previously said, “I don’t know.” The singer explained that she struggles to see her children leading a normal life given her fame. She specifically expressed concern over how the paparazzi would affect her kids.

While it remains unconfirmed if “Bigger Than Sky” is a song about Taylor’s personal experience with miscarriage, she uses other songs on the album to reference big moments from her life, both public and personal.

For example, there’s speculation that Taylor is either referencing Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s divorce in her song “Vigilante Sh*t,” or that she’s talking about Scooter Braun and his newly ex-wife Yael Cohen. “Karma” also seems to be about Taylor’s conflict with Scooter Braun and Scott Borchetta over the rights to her music catalog.

Though he doesn’t sing, Taylor’s boyfriend makes an appearance on the album, as a co-writer for the song “Sweet Nothing.” Joe is listed as William Bowery, a pen name that is widely suspected to be used by the actor.
