Thinking she was done having children after the birth of her second child, Teddi Mellencamp was given quite the surprise when she found out she was pregnant. The surprise came from the fact that Mellencamp had gotten pregnant naturally with this baby versus insemination and in vitro fertilization that was necessary to conceive her son and daughter.

Mellencamp, 38, was nine weeks along before she knew she was pregnant. She was feeling great and was super active at that stage, which was in stark contrast to how she felt while taking hormones and medications with multiple rounds of IVF. The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills personality even suffered from multiple miscarriages while trying to get pregnant with her son Cruz, 5, and had to be on bed rest while pregnant with him and his sister, Slate, 7.

If that was not emotionally taxing enough, Mellencamp also had to tackle a heart condition Cruz suffered from after he was born. Therefore, it came as no surprise that she told her Instagram fans during a live question and answer session that she had no intention of getting pregnant again.

Mellencamp is far from alone when it came to the miscarriages she suffered. However, the subject is still taboo for women to speak about, leaving them feeling alone in the situation. Mellencamp also felt like this until she started speaking out about it and found many women shared her struggles.

Statistically, according to Tommy's, one in four women will suffer a miscarriage in the first trimester. One to two women out of 100 will suffer one in the second trimester. Of those that have had a miscarriage, six out of 10 women will go on to have a successful pregnancy, but the risk of having another miscarriage increases after the first one occurs. This makes getting pregnant naturally even that more amazing for the life coach and mother-to-be.

According to Mellencamp, Cruz has been asking for a sibling for quite some time, but she "never wanted to get his hopes up," she told Page Six. After finding out that she was having a girl in September, the Bravo personality shared with People Magazine that she agreed to let Cruz name the baby, but that "Catboy Arroyave" might need a little tweaking.

Regardless of what name is chosen, Mellencamp told Us Weekly that Cruz is "so excited," as are the rest of the children, (Arroyave has a daughter, 10, from a previous relationship) to have a younger sibling on the way.
