There’s another baby joining the Teen Mom family! MTV stars Corey Wharton and Taylor Selfridge have announced they’re expecting their first child together.
The couple originally met during season one of Ex on the Beach. They now co-star on Teen Mom together, as Corey shares 2-year old daughter Ryder with one of the show’s main moms, Cheyenne Floyd. This will be the first child for Taylor.
Corey and Taylor exclusively revealed their news to People Magazine. “Yes, this is true! I’m 12 weeks and two days as of today,” Taylor, who has also starred on MTV’s Are You The One?, told the publication. As of now, they haven’t learned the gender. “Cory and I are very happy and excited to share this journey together,” Taylor continued. “Cory’s hoping for a girl and I’m just blessed to be having my first child, whether it’s a boy or girl.”
Though this will be the second child for Corey, it will be his first time being present for the pregnancy and delivery. The reality star wasn’t aware he was the father of Cheyenne’s baby until Ryder was already 6 months old, after which he became involved in the little girl’s life. The storyline was explored during the former couple’s first season on Teen Mom.
“I would just like to say we are excited,” the 28-year old told People. “It’s my first time going through this whole pregnancy process. Both of our families are very excited. Ryder is excited to become a big sister.”
Corey and Taylor reconciled their romance this past February after a months-long hiatus. “Taylor and I never really stopped talking after Ex on the Beach,” Corey said earlier this year of their relationship. “We’re going on almost a year and a half. We took about two to three months off and other than that, that’s who I’ve been with.”
As of now, there’s no word on how Corey’s ex Cheyenne feels about the pregnancy. Two seasons ago on Teen Mom, the parents admitted to hooking up with one another. Though Cheyenne implied she wanted more out of the relationship, Corey said he wasn’t ready.
Things appeared to have fizzled out between the pair before Corey got back together with his ex, Taylor. Previously, Corey admitted the hardest thing about getting back together with Taylor was informing Cheyenne. “I just kinda told Cheyenne that it’s time to make it official,” he said. “Cheyenne’s dating somebody too. We decided we’re both not right for each other right now and things aren’t working out.”
Bringing Taylor into the mix also put a strain on their co-parenting relationship, he admitted. “It’s definitely tricky,” Corey added. “It’s not the easiest on Taylor, but I just do the best that I can to make her comfortable and let her know that, ‘Hey I’m only here for you.’”
