One father had to take his child to work. He cut his customers hair while his baby was strapped on his chest in a baby carrier.
A father in Antioch, Tenessee shared that childcare is just way too expensive and he couldn't afford to put his baby in a daycare, so he brought his child to work. He typically doesn't bring the baby to work every single day but the mother couldn't watch the baby that day because she had to go to class, so the dad, Justin McFarland, had to step up to the plate. Justin strapped the little one on his chest and he cut people's hair at Fade Doc's.
A customer took a video of Justin while he did his thing. He was cutting somebody's hair while his child hung from his chest. His baby didn't seem concerned at all about his daddy cutting somebody's hair. He seemed very content being able to snuggle up to dad's chest. McFarland admitted that having his son hanging from his chest in the carrier makes things a little bit more difficult and it requires a lot of multi-tasking. He has to work hard to make sure that his child doesn't touch any of the equipment or the customers. Justin said that he is careful that the only thing that the baby touches is his own daddy.
It appears that the average daycare cost is actually pretty close to the same cost as the average rental cost. The average daycare cost is about $1,300 and the average apartment rent is about $1,500. Justin knew that he was going to almost pay just as much for his son to go to daycare that day then he would make in money that day from his job. He felt like the best option was to definitely take the baby to work.
It didn't appear that anybody was bothered by McFarland taking the child to work. Everybody seemed to be okay with the little baby being in the barbershop with his daddy. More businesses and workplaces should allow babies to join their parents at work. Young babies are much better off with their parents than they are with childcare. In many workplaces, parents are allowed to bring their children to work until they are six-months-old. More offices should encourage new parents to bring their babies to work.
