Trigger warning: mother and child death
According to Brownsville, Tennessee police, a mother, eight months pregnant, was shot and killed, while her 8-year-old daughter was also shot and is now paralyzed. Police received a call just after 9 pm on Sunday night. When they arrived at the location, they found three people shot, including the pregnant woman.
Neighbor, Tracinta Toomes, suspected something was wrong. “When I came outside, I just seen a whole lot of police and people were talking.” While another neighbor added, “It’s sad. I feel sorry for her and her daughter and her momma. It’s a sad situation.”
Investigators observed a man on a surveillance video, who is suspected of shooting and killing Alexis Branch and her daughter Malia. The other victim, Carmen Johnson, Branch’s mother, was also shot in the arm but not severely injured.
Neighbors reported hearing several shots. Three shots went through the wall of the living room into the apartment next door. A mother and two young boys, 3 and 4, live there but were luckily uninjured. Nina Singleton, the neighbor’s grandmother, received a call Sunday night from her granddaughter. “Three shots bullets that came through her wall and I came over here and found it was my cousin next door had got killed.” Singleton says her family is destroyed. “It’s very sad. We can’t rest. I couldn’t rest all night. It has taken a toll on all of us.”

Neighbors have reported not recognizing the man in the surveillance video, but didn’t believe the family had any problems with anyone. "It’s just sad. All we can do is pray.”
Nina Singleton simply stated. “I hope they catch him. What do you want to happen to him? To put him away.”
Brownsville police told the media investigators so far have no suspects. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has been brought in to investigate and is asking for help from the public. If you know anything that would help investigators call 1-800-TBI-FIND.
