For some celebrities, everything is epic. They are used to going big, and when the biggest moment of their life comes, they have to go even bigger with some incredibly unforgettable pregnancy reveals.
Some plan it out for months only to give us the bombshell on live TV — looking at Cardi B and Beyonce. Oh, and we can't forget that Kylie planned it out for nine months before finally 'fessing up and announcing her pregnancy in the same video where she showed a little bit of the birth. Others post some amazing pictures to get the job done — thanks, Blake, and, once again, Beyonce. When a mom is the queen of pop — or literally a princess — you may have a lot of pressure to make it even more memorable. But there are other celebrities who want to keep their private life under wraps. That's why nobody can picture the moment when George Clooney announced he was going to be a dad — he didn't, but luckily he has some friends that spilled the secret before his twins arrived.
Whether our favorite celebrities blessed us with a major social media post or kept it small and quiet, we were super excited to hear their happy news. Here are the 15 best celebrity pregnancy reveals and five that went unnoticed.
20 Cardi B's Big Camera Reveal
Cardi B revealed her pregnancy her way. After months of speculation that the rapper is having a baby, Cardi kept on the down low as she continued working on her new album.
And she revealed her baby bump in epic fashion this April while she was performing on Saturday Night Live.
Cardi looked gorgeous in a white gown, and the camera did her justice. Starting close in on her as she debuted her new rap, the camera panned out to show her baby bump. Cardi celebrated on Instagram, saying "I'm free," before she made the rounds the next few days on talk shows. She looked gorgeous and happy — and she made it about the music first. It was the perfect way to confirm the news while also banking in on the publicity to get her album out there. Congratulations, Cardi B!
19 Kylie's Epic Announcement After The Birth
While Cardi B had us talking for a few months about whether or not she was having a baby, Kylie Jenner kept us guessing for even longer. It wasn't exactly a secret, but Kylie and all of her famous sisters stayed mum on the news for an entire months, allowing Kylie to announce her pregnancy in epic fashion after the baby had already arrived.
The social media queen kept her fans at bay for months, posting only occasional photos that pretty much hid her belly — she even did a sexy photo shoot with her sisters that kept her belly hidden and kept the speculation going.
After her baby's birth, Kylie released an 11-minute film that showed a number of moments from her pregnancy, including sweet messages from her family and friends — and the first peek at little Chicago West who was born just a couple of weeks earlier.
We didn't see the baby or learn her name — Stormi — until a few days later. In true Kylie fashion, she controlled the PR and kept us all on the edge of our seats.
18 Serena's Accidental Announcement
We've just talked about two women who worked hard to plan out an announcement in their own time, but that doesn't work out for everybody. For example, Serena Williams' baby news came out by accident.
We'll blame it on baby brain, but the big announcement became public when Serena meant to send a private Snapchat to friends showing off her baby bump in a swimsuit.
She deleted it quickly, but someone had already spotted it, and with "20 weeks" written across it, the news was hard to deny.
"You know how social media is, you press the wrong button and … " Serena said at an event later on. While Serena may not have planned to share that photo, she looked gorgeous in it, and we were all super excited to hear the news — especially when we did the math and realized that she was pregnant when she won the Australia Open. Even her accidental announcement turned out to be totally perfect.
17 Beyonce's Record-Setting Photos
Queen Bey might be the only diva who could put out artistic photos of her baby bump and totally break the Internet. That's what happened when Beyonce announced her pregnancy with twins in 2017. She wore a green veil and undergarments, posing in front of flowers (and in another photo on top of a car) to reveal her second pregnancy to the world, and the Instagram post set records.
The pictures were highly panned but also highly praised, and they brought her 2.4 million likes within an hour and 6.4 million likes and 339,000 comments within eight hours, breaking a record previously held by Selena Gomez.
Beyonce later used the same vision to pose for photos with her babies Rumi and Sir to introduce them to the world, and the images are now as iconic and Bey is herself.
16 Ayesha's Low-Key Reveal
Not everything has to be epic to be big. That's what Ayesha Curry proved when she announced in February that she is expecting her third child with NBA star Steph Curry. Sometimes when you are pregnant you feel terrible, and Ayesha got the worst form of morning sickness called hyperemesis gravidarum, so she wasn't up to a huge planned announcement. It turns out her low-key reveal was perfect for the occasion.
In Ayesha's Instagram post, she wears pajama pants and a t-shirt that says PREGGERS. Her expression matched her mixed emotions, where she wrote, “Feeling very blessed … and very sick. Yippie! #Curryfor3.” Ayesha and Steph's daughters Riley and Ryan have already charmed us, and we're sure that the next blessing will as well. We're so excited for them, and the low-key announcement didn't do anything to dampen our spirits, although we hope Ayesha feels better soon.
15 Kimye's Concert Announcement
Sometimes when you have exciting news, it's hard to keep it to yourself. Kanye West is known for letting his feelings slip out in Twitter rants and rap lyrics, so we shouldn't have been surprised when he couldn't contain his excitement that he was going to be a dad. Kanye stopped a concert to announce that he and his then-girlfriend Kim Kardashian were expecting their first baby.
He called Kim, who later became his wife, his "baby mama," and even Kim was surprised to hear that he had let the truth come out.
The next morning, she confirmed it on her blog, and we later watched the entire pregnancy unfold on "Keeping Up With the Kardashians." Kanye always does things big, so his announcement had to be too, right? Now Kim and Kanye are parents to North, Saint and Chicago, and every announcement has been huge, but it was only the first one that made 5,000 fans scream louder than they did for the music.
14 Kate Hudson's Surprise Third Child
Everyone loves gender reveals these days. They weren't a big deal even five years ago, but nowadays doing a gender reveal can be a big party and an epic event. Kate Hudson used her gender reveal video to actually show everyone that she is expecting her third child — a surprise that comes later in life.
The video features Kate's boyfriend Danny Fujikawa, as well as her sons Ryder, 14 and Bingham, 6, all popping balloons to show that — it's a girl.
The pink confetti and balloons are fun, but the thing that really got us was the excitement from the family and their friends. This little girl is definitely loved already, and we can't help but catch the excitement from the video.
13 Unnoticed: Zoe Had Another Baby
When Zoe Saldana was expecting twins, she was promoting her film "Guardians of the Galaxy."
It was kind of hard to hide that big baby bump, so she embraced it, while she didn't talk much about the pregnancy, she didn't try denying it either.
But fast forward to her second pregnancy, and she kept it so secret that no one had any idea until she introduced us to her baby boy.
Little Zen joined brothers Bowie and Cy, and we all wondered how that happened without us noticing. Some people speculated that Zoe used a surrogate, but she said that she just wanted to keep the time period stress free.
"When you are nesting, I think it's important to maintain some kind of anonymity," she said in an E! News interview that was quoted in Parents. "Just for the sake of energy preservation." Her baby is Zen, so she definitely had that in mind when keeping the process out of the spotlight, right?
12 Rob and Chyna's Emoji Announcement
In the digital age, it doesn't always take a picture to say a thousand words. Sometimes, an emoji will do. That's what Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna did when they announced they were preggers. It actually wasn't their idea. Rob's sister Kim did it first when she announce the birth of her second child Saint with an emoji — it was one from her collection of emojis that she was selling.
Chyna was working on her own set of emojis for sale, so she used the pregnancy announcement to promote her product as well.
It was pretty cute, and it certainly did the trick. We were all a little worried from that crazy moment. The couple welcomed daughter Dream in 2016, although they have had a really rocky relationship documented on reality television and social media and are only co-parenting now.
11 Unnoticed: George and Amal's Friends Let It Slip
The sexiest man alive (he may not be the reigning title holder, but we still consider him to be that) has been pretty private about his love affair with Amal, an international law attorney. We've all been a bit envious, but she is glamorous and smart and perfect for George Clooney, so we all take what we can get when it comes to the news of the couple. But thank goodness for loose lips of their friends.
George and Amal didn't announce their pregnancy, but they told friends and family, and they let the word leak.
Specifically, it was George's pal, fellow Hollywood actor and great dad Matt Damon. He confirmed the news during a Today show interview. George and Amal welcomed twins Ella and Alexander last summer, and though George has shared his excitement about being a new dad, they have remained as private as ever.
10 Luna Legend Lets Us Know
We love keeping up with Chrissy Teigen and John Legend's adorable daughter Luna. The model mama has shared every bit of her pregnancy and new motherhood with us through social media, so we have watched Luna grow from the size of a lemon in her mother's belly. We were pretty excited to hear some of Luna's first words, but we never expected them to bear such awesome news.
In November, Chrissy shared a cute video of Luna sharing what was in her mom's belly — "Beeby," the adorable girl told us and we all squealed with glee.
Chrissy and John have been very open about their struggles and their joys, and we are super excited to be introduced to another little Legend and watch him or her grow up.
9 Justin's Sweet Smooch
Justin Timberlake can make people go wild with just about everything he does — from announcing a concert to a movie premiere. So on his birthday, he gave everybody the news they had been waiting for in the sweetest possible way, and the crowd went wild. With a great photo of him smooching his wife Jessica Biel's belly, JT announced that the couple were expecting their first baby in 2015.
"Thank you EVERYONE for the Bday wishes!," he wrote on Instagram. "This year, I'm getting the GREATEST GIFT EVER. CAN'T WAIT. #BoyOrGirl #YouNeverKnow #WeDontEvenKnow #WeAreTakingBets" Fans knew that between him and his gorgeous wife, they were bound to have a beautiful baby, and little Silas proved that later that year.
8 Mark Zuckerberg's Facebook Post
When you are the billionaire owner of Facebook, you have only one option for announcing the great news of a baby — you have to post it on Facebook. But Mark Zuckerberg, who is notoriously private, shared a lot more than expected in the lengthy post that announced the pregnancy of his wife Pricilla Chan with their first baby in 2015.
It actually wasn't their first pregnancy — Mark talked about their long journey to parenthood, which included three miscarriages. "You feel so hopeful when you learn you’re going to have a child. You start imagining who they’ll become and dreaming of hopes for their future. You start making plans, and then they’re gone. It’s a lonely experience. Most people don’t discuss miscarriages because you worry your problems will distance you or reflect upon you — as if you’re defective or did something to cause this. So you struggle on your own," he wrote, adding, “We hope that sharing our experience will give more people the same hope we felt and will help more people feel comfortable sharing their stories as well."
Mark really did start a conversation with his Facebook post that made a lot more people willing to talk about their struggles. The couple welcomed daughter Max, and last year they had their second daughter August.
7 Unnoticed: Liam's Baby Mama Confirmation
One Direction's Liam Payne never officially announced he was expecting a baby, but there were rumors all around about the bundle of joy on the way.
Many people may have missed the confirmation, which came in the form of a beautiful picture of his baby mama Cheryl Cole, proudly displaying her baby bump in a photo shoot for Loreal.
Cheryl was a judge on the X Factor U.K., and she met Liam when he and his bandmates competed in 2010. Their relationship began in 2015 on the down low, but there was no denying the baby bump in the group photo. The baby named Bear was born in 2017, and we bet that many One Direction fans missed it entirely, especially if they were still mourning the departure of Zayn.
6 Chip and Joanna's Matching Baby Bumps
Chip and Joanna Gaines are the biggest hits to come out of HGTV possibly ever, but when they decided to leave their hit show "Fixer Upper" in 2018, everyone wondered what was going on with the Texas couple. It turns out they have a baby on board, and that news was teased for a while before the pair posted matching baby bumps on social media, with Joanna giving a love pat to Chip's bulge.
There were some hints on the show that same night, but the social media confirmation was enough to drive their fans wild. It's soon to be a party of seven for the family, but fans are still mourning that they may not get to witness the expansion on their favorite home improvement show.
5 Unnoticed: Rory Gilmore Had A Baby
Everyone went crazy when the "Gilmore Girls" revival ended with news that Rory Gilmore was pregnant in 2016. But it turns out that the series star Alexis Bledel had a baby the year prior that just about nobody knew about.
The baby was more than six-months-old before anybody said anything, and that came from a costar who mentioned that he was trading baby tips with her.
Alexis is married to actor Vincent Kartheiser, and the pair have been very private about their life outside of acting. Now, all of Alexis's other "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" costars have had kids, but we don't know whether Alexis's is a boy or a girl or what his or her name is. We want to know the same thing about Rory's baby, by the way, so we're hoping for another season.
4 Blake's Photo Series
Speaking of the "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants," when star Blake Lively got married to hot throb Ryan Reynolds, we knew they would have beautiful babies. So we were all super stoked when Blake announced she was pregnant with her first baby in 2014. Blake did it by releasing a series of maternity photos on her website. They were gorgeous and so sweet.
Fans were so excited by the photo series — and the incredible baby news — that they crashed the website. And then they loved watching her red carpet appearances and maternity style. Of course, it was always spot on. Blake and Ryan now have two girls, James and Ines, and of course they are as beautiful as their gorgeous parents.
3 Unnoticed: Adam's Two Favorite Fans
Sometimes even when you announce a pregnancy, you can do it in a way that many people don't pick up on it. It took a bit for people to figure it out when Adam Levine announced that he and his model wife were expecting their first baby. First of all, the caption was a little cryptic. It said "My two favorite laker fans," while Behati flashed a peace sign.
She was in a bikini and had a baby bump, but that was a bit harder to detect on the slender model.
Of course, people were super excited when they figured out that the sexy musician was going to be a dad, and the news exploded once they cracked the code. That baby would be beautiful, just like her mom and dad, we all knew for certain, and we were super excited to see the family expand. Adam and Behati now have two daughters, Dusty Rose and Geo.
2 Royal Baby News
It's pretty exciting when your baby announcement comes by royal decree, even when it happens earlier that you expect. The entire world went crazy with excitement when we learned in 2012 that Prince William and Duchess Kate were expecting their first child. The baby — who later was named Prince George — would be third in line to the British throne, and William and Kate had captured our hearts with their beautiful wedding the year before.
Poor Kate probably didn't imagine the announcement happening like it did. The monarchy had to issue a press release to explain her absence from a planned event because she was hospitalized with hyperemesis gravidarum, a severe form of morning sickness.
Many people wait until after the first trimester to announce a pregnancy, but Kate's circumstances required an early announcement.
And while people were ecstatic to learn of the imminent arrival of a future king or queen, they also received a bit of an education about the perils of pregnancy.
1 Beyonce's First Surprise
Beyonce has caused a sensation with her pregnancy twice. The first time, she did it as only the Queen Bey could — by showing off her baby bump during an incredible performance at the Video Music Awards. She looked great, and in case you missed the little bulge under her sparkly jacket, she made it apparent by patting her baby bump.
This baby — the child of Beyonce and Jay-Z — was hip hop royalty, and the Bey Hive went ballistic with excitement. We all couldn't wait to meet the baby, and when little Blue Ivy was born in January of 2012, we celebrated again. We couldn't miss this big news. A baby on the way is always exciting, but when it's a celebrity the announcement goes to the next level, and that is certainly true for Bey and Jay.
