Nicole Elizabeth Polizzi-LaValle, or who most know her as Snooki, has done it all one could say. From reality television to dancing, wrestling to becoming a published author three different times, and now a wife, homemaker, and mother of two!
Snooki first entered the spotlight while filming MTV's Is She Really Going Out With Him? This was a show that focused on women dating obnoxious or arrogant men. After her appearance on one of the episodes of the show, she was cast as a housemate for the show Jersey Shore, where The New York Times identified her as “the breakout member” of the cast, according to En.wikipedia.org.
Nicole’s popularity didn’t stop there though. She went on to do appearances on talks shows such as The View, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live! Late Show with David Letterman, and The Wendy Williams Show.
Let’s not forget her guest appearances on WWE Raw. If our trusted readers are wrestling fans, then they were shocked to see her appearance in not just one episode, but a handful of them. Her appearance also included the biggest stage of the year, WrestleMania, where Snooki was involved in a six-person Mixed Tag Team match with Trish Stratus at WrestleMania XXVII, which aired live on March 28, 2011.
She has since settled down a lot since her days on Jersey Shore. Becoming a mother of two has changed her a lot. She became more interested in her health and fitness, her main goal was and is raising her kids, and being a great wife to her husband and father of her two kids, Jionni LaValle.
Here are 15 things about Snooki and her new family that her fans may not know about her.
15 Snooki And Jionni, Where Are They Now?
A lot has changed since Snooki's days on Jersey Shore which went off the air back in 2012. Snooki and Jionni went on to have 2 amazing children, they got married, and then built their dream house together. Some would say that they are living every couple's dream life. Beautiful house, nice cars, and two beautiful kids, who wouldn’t want their life?
On top of living the dream life, Snooki also runs her own business. In an article on buisnessinsider.com, fans learned that Snooki first opened her own Etsy shop back in 2014 called "Nicole’s Craft Room," where she sells handmade mugs, candles, wine glasses and much more. She didn’t stop there though.
Nicole went on to launch her own online shop called The Snooki Shop, where she now has her own clothing line, shoes, accessories, sunglasses and everything else a glam girl needs.
Meanwhile, her husband, Jionni, has been making a name for himself too. Unlike Snooki, Jionni prefers to avoid the spotlight. According to Wikinetworth.com, Jionni is currently in possession of his own ATM business and even has several ATMs in his name. In addition, he also owns his own T-Shirt company called NJ Fatman.
14 The History That Is Snooki
There is probably only a small portion of the world’s population that doesn’t know who Nicole LaValle is, thanks to Jersey Shore. Those that do know her, know how she loves to party, or at least use to. She is a party girl turned mom/wife.
Though a lot of people know her scandalous side, there is an entire side to her that many people don’t know about. For example, Snooki is actually adopted. Yup, that’s right, she's adopted. Nicole Polizzi technically isn't a Polizzi by birth. According to People.com, Nicole opened up to Khloe Kardashian on her Wednesday show called, Kocktails with Khloe. Snooki was born in Santiago, Chile, and later adopted at six months old by an Italian-American Family. She was quoted telling Khloe,
“I actually found out that I have like 10 other brothers and sisters. I guess they couldn’t afford me. I haven’t met them yet … I’m definitely open to going there and meeting them.”
It wasn’t until she became a mother that she actually started to understand how difficult the decision of giving up a child was on her parents.
Another thing most people don’t know about Snooki is how she got the name “Snooki,” in the first place. Her nickname is based on the male character from Save the Last Dance named Snookie. Her friends started calling her that in middle school after she became the first one to kiss a boy in her group of friends.
13 Boy Meets Girl
While filming MTV's hit show, Jersey Shore, Jionni appeared as a guest in an episode for season 3. It was a drama filled episode, as always, according to Jerseyshore.wikia.com. Vinny, one of the other Jersey Shore cast members, brought home a girl who turned out to be Jionni’s sister. In the episode, Jionni showed up with his Uncle to bring his sister home.
It wasn’t until later that night that he and Snooki would officially meet. The meet up took place back in the summer of 2010, according to MTV. Both, Jionni and Snooki, were partying at a club in Seaside Heights called, Karma. What started off as a liquored-filled dance-off, later led to an intoxicated soiree. A conversation between the two was filmed where, before the pair "got together," Snooki didn’t even know Jionni’s name. The conversation goes like this,
"Say my name...You don't remember, do you?" Always quick with an answer, Snooki replied, "I'll call you Bernard."
Jionni didn’t mind though. He was smitten by her. Snook, on the other hand, was only in it for the one-night stand. Right after Jionni left, she was seen trying to call another gentleman that she really liked. Fans later found out that the guy on the other line is actually Jionni's cousin's best friend. Take a minute to process that. However, when Mr. #2 found out about the hook up between the pair, he bailed and that was the end of that story.
It wasn’t until season four of Jersey Shore that fans learned that Snooki and Jionni were officially dating.
Fast forward four years, and they were engaged. As most stories go, first comes love then comes marriage (- engagement in their case) and then came two adorable babies. The couple wed after both babies were born.
12 The Snooki And Jwoww Show
While filming Jersey Shore, Snooki met her best friend Jennifer Farley, aka JWoww. After the fifth season of Jersey Shore ended, the two crazy best friends went on to do a spin-off show called Snooki & JWoww which ran from June 2012 to February 2015.
Us Weekly was the first to confirm Snooki’s first pregnancy during a March 2012 issue. Because of her pregnancy, MTV was concerned about the show's ratings, seeing as Jersey Shore was so popular because of all the hard-partying, and alcohol-swirling antics. Due to her pregnancy, producers of the show were forced to go in a new creative direction for the show. The first season was set in Jersey City, New Jersey. The girls were living in a former firehouse throughout Nicole’s pregnancy.
Season two rolled around and we saw the two best friends living with their boyfriends. Jenny was living with her boyfriend, Roger, and trying to adjust to being in a committed relationship while, at the same time, also trying to adjust to the rules of his house. Meanwhile, Snooki, who was living with Jionni in his parent’s basement, was learning everything she needed to learn about being a new mother, after going into early labor right after her baby shower. Season two was also the season fans got to see Jionni's proposal to Nicole.
In season three, fans got to watch as Nicole battled with being a good fiancé, a perfect mother to baby Lorenzo while, at the same time, trying to plan the perfect wedding.
In season four, we learned that, not only is Snooki pregnant again but so was her best friend, Jenny! The BFF's were both excited to be pregnant together and were seen trying to prepare for their new babies' arrivals, while also becoming neighbors for the summer.
11 The Birth Of Lorenzo
Snooki shocked the world when she announced, back in 2012, that she was pregnant with her first child with her then fiancé, Jionni LaValle. Throughout her pregnancy, she was seen filming for her Jersey Shore spin-off show, Snooki and JWoww. According to TVGuide, the entire season was filmed around Snooki’s pregnancy.
In the end, the show was mainly Snooki complaining about how exhausted she was from being pregnant, and how upset she was because she couldn’t go out to party.
Her mood quickly changed after her son, Lorenzo, was born. According to MTV News, Lorenzo Dominic LaValle made his grand entrance at the Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey on Sunday, August 26, 2012, around 3 am.
Snooki took to Twitter shortly after to announce that birth of her son, she wrote, “I am SO IN LOVE with my son Lorenzo Dominic! I had my little man last night, healthy at 6lbs! HE'S MY WORLD! ❤"
MTV was there the entire time to film the birth of her precious little one. The event aired on season 2, episode 3 of Nicole and Jenny’s show, Snooki and JWoww. A rep for Snooki has later reported tweeting, "The world just got another Guido!!! Lorenzo Dominic LaValle has entered the world weighing 6lbs, 5oz. Nicole, Jionni & Enzo are doing great!"
While MTV was seen tweeting, "We couldn't be happier for Nicole and Jionni on the healthy delivery of their baby boy! We look forward to Lorenzo's first trip to the Jersey Shore and can't wait to see his first animal print onesie."
10 The Birth Of Giovanna
Two years after the birth of her first child, Lorenzo LaValle, Nicole Polizzi announced that she was pregnant again, but this time with a little girl. She was overjoyed at the thought of having her first little princess.
During her pregnancy, Nicole spent most of her time hanging with her bestie, Jenni Farley, aka JWoww, who was also pregnant with her first child with fiancé, Roger Mathews. Jenni was quoted telling People how their two little girls would have no choice but to get along. She told People, “They’re basically cousins. There’s no option. You’re sisters.”
And Nicole couldn’t agree more with that statement. She told People in response, “Me and Jenni see each other almost every single day,” she says. “I just feel like our kids are bound to be best friends and hang out all the time. They’re going to grow up and be like cousins. They’ll like each other, I hope.
Snooki gave birth to her daughter, Giovanna Maria LaValle, Friday, September 26, 2014, at 4:28 am, according to Celebritybabies.
Snooki took to Twitter to announce the event by tweeting: “So happy to let you know we had our beautiful daughter this morning Giovanna Marie LaValle. 6.7 lbs, full head of black hair & perfect.”
9 I Now Pronounce You Mr. And Mrs. LaValle
According to US Weekly, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Jionni LaValle, officially said their I Do’s during a ceremony at The Venetian, in Garfield, New Jersey, on Saturday, November 29, 2014. The couple officially announced their engagement in March 2012, while Nicole was pregnant with their first child, Lorenzo. It wasn’t until their second child, Giovanna, was born that they would finally exchange their vows.
The couple's wedding consisted of the Great Gatsby theme, that even had a cigar and scotch bar to complete the look. According to Us Magazine, Nicole remained calm all the way up to her big day. She did not stress. She was quoted as saying in an interview:
“It’s not that hard to plan a wedding,” Polizzi told US Magazine of her black and gold-colored fete. “For me, it’s just that I don’t let myself get stressed out. I just enjoy the moment and I try to be positive about everything.”
Nicole wore two gowns, that she purchased from Bridal Reflections, for her big day. One dress was an off-white traditional lace gown that was specifically worn for the ceremony. The other dress was a fun Gatsby-themed, the dress that she wore specifically for the reception.
Her bridesmaid dresses were all black with bows on them. After their vows were read, the bridal party, family, and friends all danced to an 18-piece band called The Time Machine.
8 Friendship Goals
In 2009, a group of young kids from New Jersey took over reality television and brought it to a whole new level, with their constant shenanigans, drama, and partying. The show that was a global hit for years, had a few spin-offs and now just started a reunion show is, of course, called the Jersey Shore.
It has been almost 10 years since the show first aired and some of the relationships and friendships that the cast members made are still going strong. Snooki and Jionni are now married with two kids, Jenni is also now married with two kids, and Snooki and Jenni are the best of friends (more like sisters if anything.)
According to Brit.co, Snooki and Jenni's friendship started when they were in their early 20's when they were both cast to do Jersey Shore. They shared hungover shifts at the Shore store, talked to each other through breaks up, makeup and anything else they were going through. Their bond grew strong over their years in the house.
After Jersey Shore ended, the girls went off to do a spin-off of their own called, The Snooki and JWoww Show. While filming for the show, we saw them grow closer. From engagements to pregnancies and new houses, fans saw it all.
Nowadays they are even closer than they once were. Both now in their 30's, Snooki and Jenni are both married with two kids, hanging with each other all the time, and even have a new YouTube series together called, Moms With Attitudes. They discuss everything from cooking ideas, mom talks, shows with their children and so on.
They really are #friendgoals.
7 Parenthood Changed Snooki For The Better
Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi was best known for hard parting, booze chugging, boy crazy antics while filming for the show. She had an “I Don’t Care” kind of attitude, was a free spirit and loved to have fun. Most people would say that she was a hot mess.
When she became pregnant with her first child, Lorenzo, not many people were very thrilled. After seeing how she was on Jersey Shore, it was not hard to see why. Snooki made a total 360 after her son was born. Fox news reports her saying,
“I think after my son I finally decided to grow up,” she told FOX411. “My son has taught me the true meaning of life and my outlook on everything has changed. Now I feel like a woman and love to do new things in life I never thought I would be doing.”
According to Fox News, after the birth of her son, Snooki gave up her crazy partying lifestyle, settled down, became a mothering icon, and took up a whole health and fitness persona.
“I mainly wanted to become healthy for my son,” she explained. “I always pictured myself to be a fit mom and that’s exactly what I accomplished. I didn’t lose the weight for my career, but it is great to see how I am inspiring other mothers to lose weight, and just girls, in general, to lose weight the healthy way.”
After gracing the cover of US Weekly to show off her incredible weight loss journey, Snooki went on to be a guest of The Dr. Oz Show. She discussed her new healthy lifestyle, gave some insights on healthy tips, and shared a few of her favorite recipes. As well, she began advocating her desires for a strong body, as opposed to a skinny body. Dr. Oz had this message to say to her viewers.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for her to be a role model for a lot of other folks to observe. She went from being a naughty girl to a good girl which is of course simplistically stated, but that’s something that many of us aspire to do.”
It is safe to say that motherhood looks good on Nicole.
6 Are Snooki And Jionni Heading For Divorce?
Being in the spotlight has its downfalls. A celebrity’s life is constantly being watched by the public's eye, which is then reviewed and criticized by the world. One bad move and it is broadcasted all over the internet for the world to see.
In 2014, Jionni LaValle and Nicole Polizzi said their “I Do’s” in front of friends, family, and their two gorgeous children. Since then, their lives have been an open book for the world to see. So, it wasn’t a shock when Snooki signed on to do a Jersey Shore reunion show called, Jersey Shore Family Vacation, without her husband, that rumors were started. Don’t fret Snooki and Jionni fans, that is all they are, just rumors according to Eonline.
Snooki was later seen commenting on her love for her husband by saying, "I love you beyond words & so lucky to have you," she wrote. "As long as we know what we have, screw everybody else. You're my world!"
When tabloids started releasing headlines saying the couple’s marriage was on the rocks, both Jionni and Snooki came forward to set the record straight. Jionni was the first to make it clear that his marriage to Nicole was stronger than ever in an Instagram post. According to E Online, Jionni posted this to his Instagram page with a loving picture of the two,
"My wife is filming a scene packing up and leaving for her new show and I AM CHOOSING TO NOT be on TV because I simply DO NOT like it," Jionni shared with his followers. "Nicole and I are doing great and became even stronger together while raising our beautiful kids. However, you will not see me on her reality show. Being a reality star was never something I wanted to be when I grew up. I own my own business and work hard at it, that's what I do. My wife is a reality star and works hard at that, that's what she does. We ARE not divorced. For the HATERS I hope this message finds you and confuses you even more about life and for the FANS of my wife and her show…I got your back!!! God Bless Yas!"
5 Snooki's Mini-Me
When Nicole Polizzi first became pregnant with her first child, she so wished for a girl. Instead, she was blessed with a baby boy and was still thrilled about the idea of having a mini Jionni. Two years later, Snooki's wish came true when she became pregnant with a little girl.
Since the day Giovanna Marie LaValle was born, she has proven time and time again how she is the spitting image of her mom. One can tell from watching Nicole's Snapchats and Instagram stories, that the two have the same sassy personality, amazing fashion sense, and kooky sense of humor.
It wasn’t until November 2017, when Snooki posted a few pictures on Instagram of her daughter and herself, that the world realized how much they looked alike. Some of the pictures featured a side by side look of the two around the same age, while one was of little Giovanna holding a picture of her mom when she was her age. Snooki captioned the picture by saying, “My twin.”
She isn’t lying either. It really looks like Snooki cloned herself. According to People.com, they both have the same color hair, deep brown eyes, same little nose, mouth and even hands. The only difference really is height. The 4 ft. 8" mother is actually afraid that Giovanna is going to keep growing and pass her in height one day. She had this message to say for her daughter, “Now stop growing and stay this age forever,” she wrote, adding a series of panic-faced emojis and the hashtags, “#Crying #StopGrowing #JesusHelpMe #INeedATranquilizer.”
4 Giovanna and Lorenzo Start School Together
It feels like just yesterday that Snooki and husband, Jionni LaValle, were announcing their big pregnancy news. However, time seems to be flying by. In May of 2017, according to People.com, the mother of two took to Instagram to announce that her children were now both in school, with an adorable picture of the two. At the time Giovanna Maria, who was 2 ½, and Lorenzo Dominic, who was 4 ½, were both seen sharing a sweet embrace while sporting their new school clothes and backpacks.
Snooki captioned the photo on Instagram with this message,
“Big day for this Mama Bear. Both my kids are now officially in school. I’m feeling such a range of emotions, from sad, too excited, to feeling so proud of my nuggets. They’re pretty awesome human beings & bring so much joy and love into my life! PROUD MAMA today and every day!” she added. That being said. @jlavalle5 - wanna do Day dates now?! 💃🏽😍”
At least she wasn’t too sad that her little birds were leaving the nest, she made sure to add a positive side to it.
3 Giovanna And Meilani Are The New #FriendGoals
Nicole and Jenni bonded and became the best of friends while on the show, Jersey Shore. While filming for their show, Snooki and JWoww, Jenni at one point announced that she was pregnant with her first child, daughter Meilani. Shortly after, Snooki also announced that she was pregnant with her second child, daughter Giovanna. The two besties were able to bond and become closer while going through their pregnancies together. When Jenni gave birth to her daughter July 13, 2014, Snooki didn’t give birth until later on September 26, 2014. One could say that the two unborn girls started bonding while in the wombs. Jenni was seen bringing her daughter to meet her new best friend shortly after her birth
According to Dailymail, shortly after Snooki gave birth to her daughter, Jenni did an interview with E! News and had this to say, “So happy for my best friend, Nicole, and Meilani’s future partner in crime. Giovanna is gorgeous just like her Mommy!”
Fast forward three years, both girls are three, clones of their mothers and best friends. If one was to follow Snooki or Jwoww on their social media accounts, or their web series, Moms With Attitude, they could see countless pictures of the two girls together and how close their friendship is. They have a bond that was started in the womb that would clearly last forever. It will be cute to see these two grow up together.
2 Jersey Shore Family Vacation
It has been six years since we last saw the crazy antics of the housemates on Jersey Shore. From breakups to hookups, wild partying today intoxication, the show made the characters huge and became a pop culture phenomenon. According to Wikipedia, the show's franchise came up with several different international adaptations of the show in other countries, and it even did spin-off shows, Snooki and JWoww and The Pauly D Project, after the show went off the air in 2012.
The show has already been scheduled for the second season. I wonder what the future holds for our crazy Jersey housemates.
After the showed aired its' last episode on December 20, 2012, fans thought that was the end. However, MTV shocked the world when they announced, on August 12, 2017, that they were bringing the entire cast, minus one, back for a one-time show called, Reunion Road Trip: Return to the Jersey Shore, which premiered on E! on August 20, 2017.
It wasn’t long before MTV shocked us once again and announced on November 27, 2017, that the cast of Jersey Shore would be reuniting once again for a new reunion series titled Jersey Shore Family Vacation. This time the show was based in Miami, Florida and premiered April 5, 2018.
1 How Snookie And JWoww Deal With Backlash From Their New Show
When Jersey Shore first aired, we saw a whole different version of who Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi and Jenni “JWoww” Farley used to be. Things have since changed when the show went off the air in 2012. Both women are now married, have a set of kids, and have settled down into their new roles as mom, wife, and a homemaker.
But, once they returned for the show, Jersey Shore Family Vacation, we saw that not everything had completely changed. Once reunited with their other cast members, we saw that both, Snooki and JWoww can still party like it's the early 2000's.
You can take the girl out of the party, but you can't take the party out of the girl.
Unfortunately, there was a lot of backlash about their behavior on the show, according to Eonline. However, the girls were ready for it and were not backing down.
"Backlash I get off on because you don't know me [...] And you have no idea, so if you're a parent and you're going to judge me, go take care of your kid," Snooki told E! News.
Snooki, who is now 30, did not feel guilty for having a good time without her kids. Saying that an occasional break from parenting was essential. She explained:
"You need to get away from your kids so you're not so anxious and you're not so irritable when it comes to being a parent. I'm a 24/7 parent at home. I'm always with my kids...so the fact that I can get a break and go to the gym for a minute or go out to dinner with my girlfriends for a little bit, it makes me a better mother because I'm not so irritable."
JWoww, who is now 32, agreed with Snooki and also had a say during the interview with E! News. Jenni had this to say:
"I actually wanted to do this show for myself to get rid of the stigma that once you become a parent or married or over 30, you're basically not supposed to live your life for you anymore, which is fine. But at the end of the day, my kids are well taken care of at home."
Just because you are a mom, doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun now and again. Even though Nicole and Jenni had a blast, viewers saw they felt guilty for being on vacation without their kids. Snooki is even having second thoughts about signing on for the second season. We'll have to wait and see.
