Royal fans have been anticipating the announcement of the godparents to baby Sussex and finally a prospect is in! Jessica Mulroney- Meghan Markle's best friend- is almost "certainly" going to be playing a major part in the Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry’s baby life, according to Express UK. Today, the odds have been calculated with this breaking news.
Odds placed by Coral and Betfair on her being one of the godparents of baby Sussex are 2/1, while Ladbrokes also shared their odds of 4/6. Coral's Harry Aitkenhead said, "It seems almost certain that Jessica Mulroney will play a huge part in the life of the couple, so much so that we make her firmly odds on to be named as godmother to their first child.”
It is destined that Markle and husband Prince Harry will observe tradition and christen their baby. With a myriad of aristocratic as well as celebrity friends - speculation has been grand and the reveal is compelling. Also in the running includes Amal Clooney at 7/2, Serena Williams at 4/1 and finally Oprah Winfrey at 10/1 odds.
Notwithstanding, the endearing Mulroney certainly seems to be the crowing choice as Meghan's best friend. Even before meeting Prince Harry, Markle was embraced by a duo that Toronto Life magazine called the city's "most polished power couple" - Jessica and Ben Mulroney. BBC shares that Ben Mulroney is the son of former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, and is a prominent TV host and entertainment reporter in Canada. Jessica Mulroney, with an established career in fashion and marketing, is from one of Montreal's most prominent clans- a descendant of the founder of a national shoe retail empire. She is also fashion adviser to Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau, the wife of current Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau.
Jessica was also the unofficial stylist and potential mastermind behind all of the newly married royal’s distinct fashions, meaning that she's ultimately responsible for the "Meghan effect” - stunning fans with her style choices on a global level. Mulroney's children- Ivy, four; and seven-year-old twins Brian and John- were among the bridesmaids and pageboys at the wedding. It's also rumoured that the Canadian stylist was involved in helping to plan the lavish event, reports Marie Claire.
Choosing spiritual advisors is profound, although Royal tradition has previously dictated other members of the Royal Family and courtiers as godparents. Royal commentator Andrea Boehlke believes that Markle will not observe the custom, in that the British Monarchy has become more permissive, if not modernized.
No matter who's chosen, the honor of becoming the godparents to baby Sussex will be monumental. They will commit to the promise of encouraging their godchild to grow in faith and essentially guide them on their journey of spirituality.
