In an incredible coincidence, a set of twin sisters happened to give birth to baby girls on the same day – and that day happened to be their birthday.

According to Metro, Autumn Shaw and Amber Tramontana welcomed their newborns only an hour and a half apart from each other. It also happened to be their birthdays, October 29th. While the sisters admit they had planned to be pregnant at the same time, hoping a close age difference would allow their kids to have a close relationship, they had no idea what was in store for them.

“It’s something that’s really an unusual thing,” the women’s OB/GYN, Dr. George Vick, explained to the media. Having been in practice for 45 years, the doctor says he’s never witnessed something so incredible, calling it a “God thing the whole way.” The twin sisters happened to have the same due date, which the doctor said was already an impressive coincidence. But the fact they went into labor and gave birth within less than two hours of each other is a miracle.

Metro adds that while the twin sisters weren’t allowed in the same room while giving birth, they were as close to each other as could be. They gave birth in the same hospital in side-by-side rooms. The only thing separating them was a wall, allowing the sisters to remain connected though they weren’t physically in the same room.

This wasn’t the first time the sisters got to share their pregnancy and labor experience, either, as their 2-year old sons were born close together, too. There was only 10 weeks in between when their boys were born. Elaborating on their experience, the sisters said they feel exceptionally grateful to each have two, healthy children close in age with their sister’s kids.

Autumn Shaw said birthing her second child was especially emotional and meaningful to her, as she and her husband were coping with the loss of a pregnancy that happened shortly before they got pregnant with their daughter. She says they couldn’t have asked for a better time to get pregnant again and being able to experience it alongside her sister made it an even better experience.

The sisters are now enjoying their newborn baby girls at their respective homes, grateful that their laboring experiences went smoothly, and their babies are healthy. They’re looking forward to celebrating their children’s birthdays together with joint parties and seeing how the bond between their children develops as they get older.
