An Alabama woman who has been in jail for the past 17 months has no idea how she could possibly be eight months pregnant, but she is.
We've all heard stories of women who had no idea they were pregnant until the baby is arriving. For women who have been through pregnancy and had to endure some of the horrible side effects that can come along with it, stories such as these can likely wind you up a little bit. However, those unknown pregnancies will have had a starting point that the mom will hopefully be able to remember.
For Latoni Daniel, that is sadly not the case. Daniel is currently eight months pregnant, reports Metro. However, she has spent the past 17 months in prison. In the state of Alabama, where the 26-year-old is currently being held, sex of any kind with someone who is incarcerated is illegal. That means at some point, a law has been broken.
This is where this story gets even more confusing and potentially much darker. Daniel remains adamant that she has no memory of a time where she could have possibly become pregnant. That has led to the suspicion that she was raped. Daniel's brother believes that his sister was given sedatives for seizures, which would have potentially made her pass out, and raped while she was sedated.
While Daniel has not been convicted of any crimes, she is currently being held in jail following the accusation that she played the part of getaway driver when her boyfriend allegedly robbed and killed an 87-year-old man. Should she be found guilty, Daniel might well face the death penalty. Regardless of her future or how she became pregnant, she still believes the child is a blessing from God.
Daniel's lawyer and family are currently working on the mom-to-be being allowed to leave jail in order to have her baby. Time is ticking though as the little one is due to arrive at the end of this month. Despite the potentially dark circumstances in which the baby has come to exist, Daniel and her family have reassured anyone who has asked that the child will be loved and taken care of.
