So a woman impregnated by a "monk" would probably get a slew of headlines for all the wrong reasons, and might even require some intervention from Pope Francis to smooth those tempestuous waters. Well, this isn't one of those cases, although it is getting its share of media mention in the U.K.

It turns out that X-Factor singer Cher Lloyd, who's been married to a "monk", namely hairdresser Craig Monk (see what we did there?) for nearly five years, is expecting her first child, later in May. That was before the 24-year-old performer, who hasn't had a hit in three years, inked a new deal with IE:Music, although details of that contract have not been made known. It's also not known whether the forthcoming baby will waylay any projects in the wake of that signing.

However, the two soon-to-be parents haven't been strangers to scandal either. Right after the pregnancy announcement, an ex of Monk's reportedly declared that he was already a father to a six-year-old daughter and hasn't even paid her a visit in roughly a year. The former Monk beau, Sunny Dearle, said that they were sweethearts going way back to their school days, and was angry to have found out the news about his current wife's pregnancy on social media. So she did what any normal slighted woman would do: blast the dude on social media.

Meanwhile, Lloyd, who was first introduced to X-Factor audiences back in 2010, when she finished fourth in the competition, also has no shortage of notoriety surrounding her. Mentored by X-Factor judge Cheryl Tweedy, the two had a major falling out in 2012, when Lloyd took a shot at her teacher's singing skills on live radio. Tweedy warned the upstart that such comments will dog her for much of her career, and the two haven't spoken since.

Lloyd did have a promising start to a career after X-Factor, signing to Simon Cowell's SyCo label in 2012, but this lasted only a year, after releasing her Sticks and Stones debut, which yielded the single "Swagger Jagger". Two years later, her last hit "Sorry I'm Late" was released. Despite the lull since then, Lloyd is still estimated to have a net worth of $2 million.

We hope that Cher has a safe pregnancy, and wish her and her husband the best of luck!
