Lexi Tatman, who was fired from Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant earlier this year, announced on Tuesday that she had given birth to her second child with boyfriend Kyler Lopez. Strangely, her pregnancy was kept under wraps by the reality star and went undetected by the media.

The 19-year-old, who wasn’t invited back for the second season of the MTV show, was reportedly let go because MTV felt that her story wasn’t interesting enough to continue with. She posted a pic of her new baby, whom she named Jay Wolfe, on her Twitter account yesterday. “Thank you all for the kind words and congratulations,” she tweeted. “Me and Kyler chose to keep our pregnancy off social media to enjoy it and the birth. Thank you all for understanding.”

Baby Jay, who arrived on Monday, was born weighing 7 lbs. 1 oz. and measuring 19 inches in length. Lexi also posted a second photo the baby on Instagram with the caption, “Welcome to the world little love.” Tatman’s first child, Tobias Ryker Lopez-DeLuna, was born on October 29, 2017, and is now two years old.

Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant debuted on March 12, 2018 on MTV. It is a spinoff of the Teen Mom, which was a spinoff of MTV's 16 and Pregnant series. The first season of the show followed the lives of five teenagers, Jade Cline, Brianna Jaramillo, Ashley Jones, Kayla Sessler, and Lexi Tatman, from pregnancy to childbirth. This month, it was announced that a new version of the show will be produced in the UK.

Originally, the franchise was meant to discourage teenagers from having babies, but over time, as a result of the popularity and social media fame of many of the cast members, many have questioned if perhaps the shows glorify teen pregnancy.

A study featured in the New York Times and conducted by the National Bureau of Economic Research found that 16 and Pregnant reduced teen births by nearly six percent in 2010. However, a different study conducted by researchers at Indiana University found that 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom lead many viewers to believe that teen mothers have privileged lives.
