Two months ago, Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid had their first child and now, his mother is finally getting a chance to meet her. In the age of COVID-19, where travel has become a major event, Malik's mom apparently journeyed from the United Kingdom all the way to Pennsylvania for the visit.
Zayn's mom, Trisha, is no novice to social media herself. She boasts over 500,000 followers on Instagram. It was there that she dropped the hint about her Stateside visit. Via her story, the proud grandma thanked her son's girlfriend for her cooking above a picture of an admittedly delicious looking breakfast. It doesn't take a sleuth to determine that the food was most likely served in-person as mailing a fully cooked meal doesn't pack the same punch, at least not enough to warrant an Instagram shout-out.
Due to travel restrictions from the UK, a visit before now was virtually impossible. Gigi's mother, Yolanda has a farm in Pennsylvania and the two (and then three) have been there for the bulk of the year, although they have been seen in New York City, where Hadid owns a Penthouse. The couple have been going out of their way to keep their daughter out of the public eye, even managing to keep quiet about the girl's name, although it has been described by those in the know as "unique."
The baby's birth on September 23rd was announced via Instagram post that featured the newborn, but was careful to keep her face hidden. Next to a black and white image of the baby's hand, she captioned, "Our girl joined us earth-side this weekend and she’s already changed our world. So in love". Zayn echoed her sentiments by adding, "Our baby girl is here, healthy & beautiful…to try put into words how i am feeling right now would be an impossible task. The love i feel for this tiny human is beyond my understanding. Grateful to know her, proud to call her mine, & thankful for the life we will have together x."
As time has gone on, though, the new mom has begun to slowly share more and more, usually through her stories. A recent post saw the baby's legs dangling from Gigi's shoulders with the caption: "she burps sunshine". Seeing the model's signature stare looking back at the camera while a pair of tiny legs hang there from a belching infant is actually pretty funny. To no one's surprise, Baby (To-Be-Annouced) was stylish herself, adorned in a white shirt, gray leggings, and mustard-yellow socks.
At the end of the day, it's beautiful to see a family come together during a time when so many are being forced to forgo holidays and visits. Trisha Malik must be over the moon over the chance to see her granddaughter and the happy parents must be thrilled to introduce them. Instagram posts and text messages are great, but for an excited grandmother, nothing beats the real thing.
